Import, Edit, and Create Videos in iMovie
Apple has made creating movies in iMovie fun, easy, and intuitive. iMovie can make any amateur's movie look like it was produced by a top-of-the-line studio. iMovie is finding it's home in more and more classrooms due to it's ability to take education beyond the norms. So what are some of the ways to use iMovie in one's classroom? Well, here are just a few ways.
Teachers and/or students can create:
- Vodcasts - a podcast that have video incorporated into them
- Digital Storytelling - a story that is told through the use digital video and audio
- Video Journal - a digital video journal that is kept throughout the year or for a portion of the year that tracks student progression
- Reenactment - teachers/students reenactment a time in history
- Cataloging Experiments - the scientific method is a progression that one can use iMovie to document this progression

Equipment
- Apple Computer
- iMovie software
- Video camera with videos that were shot or movies that are already loaded on the computer
- Microphone (if creating voiceovers)
- Website/iPod Touch or another way to share the video
Here two examples of videos created in iMovie:
london.mov - A rough edit without a title, transitions, and other effects that was put together in iMovie
Paris.mov - An edited movie with titles, transitions, and effects that was created in iMovie
